    Associations of Teachers of Chinese

    The Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA)
    The Chinese Language Teachers Association represents instructors of Chinese language, literature, linguistics and culture at all educational levels throughout the world. While most of its members teach in colleges and universities, the number of precollegiate and Chinese heritage school teacher members is increasing year by year. CLTA is concerned with a wide variety of issues critical to the effective learning and teaching of all aspects of Chinese culture in general and language in particular. The Association is committed to improve the professional status of Chinese language teachers and to promote the teaching of Chinese in colleges and high schools. It sponsors conferences, seminars and workshops for members to exchange ideas on a great variety of topics related to Chinese studies. Additionally, it publishes a journal, a newsletter, a monograph series, and other occasional publications to reinforce better communication, to enhance better understanding on Chinese culture and to facilitate effective teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture.

    Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers
    Facing the large demand of Chinese teachers of Chinese in the world, China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (hereinafter referred as "NOCFL"), after careful planning and complete substantiation, formulates 'Chinese Volunteer Program for Teachers of Chinese as a Foreign Language' which gains highly attention and support from Ministry of Education since it is the first national program to dispatch volunteers to foreign countries to teach Chinese.

    The program aims at promoting Chinese and its culture abroad and improving its teaching in the world as well as strengthening mutual understanding, friendship and exchange between China and other countries, by which Chinese people will works together with the world to create a more splendid and bright future for human beings.

    Authorized by Ministry of Education, "Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers" begins to be implemented from March 26th, 2004.
